Look, had you been criticizing the Serbian judicial system, for example, i'd be 100% with you, but name me a country where govt and oligarchs are respecting pple? Statements about policemen, shopkeepers, employers and drivers are just generalizations.

As for the zoo - yeah, it's far from ideal, but let's just see who owns it first, so that we know who deserves the bollocking.

I'm sure that in the village of Highway in Cornwall, just outside Penpoll, just across from Fowey, there's a much better zoo, with a statue of lion forcing open a bloke's mouth from which Skinners' Pale Lager spurts to the joy of animals that are free to roam around the ancient fort, while shops refuse to sell crap, made by slaves in Indonesia or the Philippines for loose change, and everybody respects everyone else?

Those are local shops, for local people.

Try Utopia, you might like it there...

Mutual respected is the fiber of human existence . When respect is forgotten economies drop, scientific work stops, wars wage. But no one cares about that, people are stealing other people's achievements, stealing companies, stealing everything that is not bolted down. That is why paper exists, it is the ultimate proof that respect has to be shown. Paper can be used for legal contracts where two partners respect each other. Paper can be used to write a scientific publication so everyone can respect and quote your work. Paper can be used for laws, for example there are traffic laws and pedestrians and drivers alike have to follow that set of legally binding sentences which only regulate the amount of respect shown between two unequal traffic participants.
But in a country where no one cares about paper in any form, there can be no respect, only anarchy.

In the centre of Belgrade zoo is an amazing bronze statue. A muscular man straddles a lion, kneeling on its back, bending its spine and forcing its mouth open with both hands. It's a fountain: out of the lion's mouth pours a jet of water. The message is nice and clear: get the fuck down you miserable majestic magnificent animal and open your mouth for me. It's a good emblem for the zoo.

I just keep re-reading this paragraph and I can't get enough of it. I am utterly enamored.
