Supermarket Adventures Pt. II

I returned today, around the same time of day.  Same soundtrack.  Ok for now, but I dunno if I can abide that ev-er-y time.  Added to the list of things I can't find: black beans, hair conditioner.  I guess they're nothing I need, really.  Ajvar,  burek &c are quite a functional substitute.

I wish the weather would get a bit cooler, though it did give Nathan and I an excuse to meet our neighbors.  I finaly gave in, against my sort-of-environmentalist instincts, and turned on theair conditioning last night.  That felt nice.  Then, a couple of hours later, we got a phonecall on the apartment phone, which was I think the first call we received on it.  The voice was in Serbian, which was not really a surprise, but luckily Nathan with his extensive knowledge of Russian and Ukrainian could handle it.  He ascertained as much as there was some problem with the AC unit, and "they" would be up here shortly.

So, not long after, a couple of guys who live downstairs came to the door.  We all worked through the problem, which apparently had to do with the drainage system, and was an easy fix.  I got to attempt to follow the conversation, with little success because neither of them spoke much English, and I haven't yet managed to break 10 words in Serbian.  I figured out that we were identified as Americans, students, and sort of what we were doing in Serbia.  Now we're invited to chill with them sometime in the courtyard, drink some beers and meet their daughters.  <3 meeting  new people who I can barely communicate with; good times.
