New Facebook Group: Married to a Serb Expat

Rosemary Bailey Brown RSS / 16.04.2008. u 21:25

If you yourself are a Serb expatriot (of which I suspect thousands surf B92 weekly) or you are a foreigner married to a Serb, I've started a new Facebook group for us to gather. It's free, but you must be a Facebook member (which is also free.) I've learned though this blog and my own separate blog that I'm not the only non-Serb out there who is in that crazy world of being married to a Serb. So, I figured, let's make company for each other!

Specific Instructions:

#1. If you are not on http://www.facebook.com already, create a free account for yourself.  You can create a profile of yourself which friends who you've selected can see. You can get emails and other contacts from Facebook members who are your friends.  And you can join groups.

#2. After you log in, click on the left, "applications" list where it says "Groups".

#3. In the search box at the top of the Groups home page, enter the words:  Married to a Serb Expat

#4.  The group summary should appear.  Click on the blue headline name of the group to go to the grouyp homepage.

#5. Join the group by clicking on the join link in the list of activities at the right of the page.

Optional: If you'd like to be Facebook Friends with me, search for my name in Facebook and then use the add to friends option.

troll on:

publish it as a comment somewhere (there are lot of discussions here about war period in ex-yu ) and see how you go with the feed-back.

I would urge you to reconsider that :) It may have adverse and undesired consequences :) I mean assuming you want to stay together :)

Wow - thanks for the hotlink and the compliment! That's my personal blog. The folks at B92 initially saw it and then asked me to blog here sometimes too.... Amazing but true, since you posted this hotlink, more than 150 people have clicked on it according to my web stats. The power of B92 comments!

A personal issue of global importance

Dear people from around the planet somehow linked with this piece of planet, I would like to anonce to you all:

I am a student and I need a job (I won't choose) through summer from 1. july - 31. september in EU or USA or anywhere else. I am thinking about the job where I can earn like 1000 euros a month NET, but working very hard.
Is there anyone who is good enough to help me with an information, her/his personal expirience or smtng that could help me find the job that I am thinking about.

I have drivers licence, licence for motor boats, I am in good physical and mental condition. I ve been doing all kinds of jobs like in my yard, I have made the wooden door for the store room, the bench, I ve been wall painting, lawndring, made few more pieces of furniture. Please help.

Serbia will be greatfull :))

Thanks to all of you who answer.

New Facebook Group: Married to a Serb Expa

Hey Rosemary, am not married to a Serb, therefore can't join your Facebook group :(

Just wanted to say it's been a quiet day at the office today and I've been reading your blogs - love the 'Notes from a Serbwife.....' and 'Yugoslavia' ones especially. As an ex-Yugoslav - that's what I consider myself (was born in Slovenia to a half Slovene half Croatian mother and a Bosnian dad......nowadays I don't even know what you would call me, a mongrel perhaps??.....) way back then I considered myself as an Yugoslav, I left Slovenia a year after it ceased to be part of Yugoslavia. I was 19 and could not care less what or who anyone was........I'd just finished secondary school and was planning on having as much fun in London as possible. Due to a few coincidences my 'gap-year' in London became a permanent thing, I got married (to a Bosnian - here i go again), had kids, made a home, settled,......as you do.....you set your priorities right, especially when the offspring comes into the picture.

On the latter blog (Yugoslavia) you really touched on everything I've been thinking about quite a lot lately (yes the old nostalgia for the good old pre-Playstation, DVD, ipod, iphone blah blah blah.....times kicked in), as did everybody that left their comment (very interesting and different point of views there).....

So thank you! Not sure if you're still trecking around Nepal, I am looking forward to reading more of your blogs.

How to join the Facebook group

I'm sorry so many of you have had problems joining the group. Thanks for letting me know. I've added specific instructions to my initial B92.net blog posting above to help you.

By the way - it's a very open group - you don't have to be married, you can be a boyfriend or girlfriend of a Serb, or you can be a Serb yourself who is partnered with a non-Serb. There's no strict rules, just good socializing hopefully.

Re: How to join the Facebook group

you should just post the permalink of the group. When you are on its homepage, copypaste the link from the address bar in your blog post.
