"I totally agree with you - I think it is very naughty what has been happening in England and I am embarrassed about it. Sorry. You have to also bear in mind that it is summer and there is nothing happening in the news - so the sports papers and broadcasters are desperate for stories and making things bigger than they are... I also think you are right on two things - one, Darbyshire should have stopped playing, he was right beside the injured the player and just ignored him, that's bad play. And two, his comment is bordering on the racist, you are right...
It would be interesting if someone from the Serbian FA wanted to defend the team and comment about what Darbyshire said - I can see that the blogs are going crazy with it... I can see why the players may not want to comment as they want to focus on the semi-final - which I hope they win.
The English side of the story says as much about the way the press here works as about the players and their insular view of things. Not one newspaper has written about the story from the Serbian viewpoints - it is lazy and convenient to make them the bad guys, and that's what has happened. Alexi Lalas called England arrogant for the way they talk down about the MLS without even seeing it - the same accusation could be levelled in the light of this incident...
Regards,
..."
