"Some news: Worldchanging is paying me to work on a project to instigate local WC blogs in various cities over the next 4 months (and possibly beyond). We need one fearless leader and a half dozen or more regular bloggers per city. I thought Jasmina might know some Belgrade bloggers who could write with a local slant about Worldchanging themes? This will ultimately take as closer to world domination...best,Jon--

Dir. Spiro N. Taraviras, Germany-Greece, 2005, documentary, color, 118 min.
Featuring A.I. Bezzerides, Jules Dassin, Gloria Stuart, Cloris Leachman, Terry Moore
In English

Buzz is a memorable, absorbing and illuminating profile of the legendary Hollywood scriptwriter (and acclaimed novelist) A. I. 'Buzz' Bezzerides.

His father was Greek, his mother Armenian. He was born in 1908 in the Kingdom of Pont, in today’s Turkey. Buzz quickly became known as ‘the King of Noir’, the author of classic movie masterpieces, including Robert Aldrich's timeless Kiss Me Deadly (1955), Jules Dassin's Thieves' Highway (1942) and Raoul Walsh's They Drive By Night (1940) as well as "Beneath the 12-Mile Reef" set amongst the Greek community in Florida in the 50's.

Don’t miss this epic about a fascinating life of a Greek-Armenian immigrant who went from Ottoman Turkey to the legendary Warner Bros. studios, where his friends were Humphrey Bogart, Robert Mitchum, William Faulkner, Marilyn Monroe, and many other Hollywood legends……

Director Spiro N. Taraviras and a special guest will participate in Q&A’s after the 4:30 and 7:15 screenings on Friday and Saturday, August 25th and 26th.

“Recognizing the enduring importance of Europe’s newest democracies, ACF supported the developers of a new Los Angeles film festival devoted to maintaining a watch on the predominantly ex-Communist countries of southern Europe and the Balkans, SeeFest.
