Evo šta sam ja, naivna, napisala svojoj prijateljici Nemici koja je udata za Danca i živi u Danskoj tokom gledanja prenosa protesta u Beogradu:
Hi my dear,

is that snow melting down over there?

When it was the last time when U had a sunny day

? U know that I like 2 joke about that because in Sharm every day is sunny day and there's nothing better 2 do on sunny day then 2 dive

...and I'm doing a lot of that lately. In Serbia was nice, sunny day 2. Perfect day for big national rally in Belgrade. This time I'm not going 2 wright U about Sharm and diving. This time I'm going 2 tell U something about Serbia. As I'm writhing U this, there's a huge national rally in Belgrade against declaration of independence of Kosovo. Last time I have saw such protest in Belgrade was on October 5th 2000. That was the day when Serbia changed it's direction 2 democracy......one can tell that Serbians attending this kind of public meetings in this number only when something very important is happening. The only difference is that I was there on that day but 2day I'm in Sharm and watching everything on TV and I feel sad. Infinitely sad....and helpless....and powerless....and sad again.
Here's how everything started. On the February 17Th Kosovo has unilaterally declared independence. Just like that. I don't know how much U know about Serbia and Kosovo situation, but one thing I can tell U-that declaration is unscrupulous violation of ALL aspects of international law. I don't wont 2 bother U with two centuries of Serbian history, lets stay in the presence-that independence is violent slaughtering of Serbian essence. Of course, Albanians from Kosovo couldn't pull out the whole thing without previous approval of USA and part of European Union. Germany, GB, USA, France and Italy where in the first row 2 recognize new country. I can understand why USA has done that-they just can. The world is their playground. They can do whatever they wont and get away with that. The part that I can't understand is Europe. Cradle of democracy and law. This recognition de facto means that there's no low in the world anymore. That means that Europe has chosen 2 embrace snake on it's chest. America don't care-it's not on there territory. The hot potato was passed 2 all lady-Europe. Europe evidently don't know how 2 deal with hot stuff so they decided 2 go in Washington 2 take decision....and "when U in Rome, do as Romans are doing". Regardless the fact that they are igniting the barrel of gun powder which can explode directly into there (and my, yours...etc) face. Today Denmark has recognized Kosovo independence 2. There R sheduled rallies of Serbians in most of major cities in the world: Washington, London, Melbourne, Munich, Berlin, Frankfurt, Vancouver.....I'm not shore about Copenhagen. On the opposite side they have Russia, possible China and India. Interesting number of world population and economic power...
Now, probably, U asking yourself why this issue is THAT important 2 Serbians when Kosovo is just 15% territory. First thing:one CAN'T take away something that was from the beginning of the time his and give 2 somebody else who has imposed himself. That's just not right, that's not fer, that's not making any sense. Second thing: it's not about territory- it's about Serbian identity, history, religion, collective memory, epic poems, culture.....Can U imagine Greece without Rhodes or Crete, or Germany without Bavaria? Last year when my mom died I took her ring which I'm wearing now. Can U imagine what that ring mean 2 me? Do U think that it would be wright that somebody take that ring now and give it 2 somebody else, some imposer? That's what is happened. Serbian crown yew was snatched and given 2 foreigners.
Hundreds thousands of people gathered 2gether 2day in Belgrade 2 express they protest due blindness of Europe and mistreatment of Serbia and hers people. The whole thing was looking 2 me utterly sad...like burial service. Serbia was buried 2 centuries of her history 2ogether with Kosovo today. It was big ceremony....hundreds thousands of people.....I'm wondering....do they know that? .
At the moment in Belgrade is 5C and foggy, Sharm: 18C, clear, total eclipse of the moon. Forecast 4 2morow: Belgrade-partially sunny, 14C, Sharm-absolutely sunny, 24C.
Well....my dear according 2 present situation I have 2 tell U that possibility 4 me 2 come 2 visit U in Denmark is anorexic. I was telling U before that it's going 2 be difficult 4 my visa, with this new development of the situation....probably impossible.
Million kisses, say hallo 2 Mike
