I am born in Belgrade, Serbia on 15th of September 1979, although my name could mislead you to think that I am a child of month of May.

I suffered a lot of bad pronunciation of my name during my life abroad because of that funny letter “J” in the middle. Beside Serbia and neighboring countries, Germany was the only one where they correctly called me “Maya”.

I heard lots of legends about my name. My favorite one comes from Indian religions where it means illusion. Maya is the principal concept which manifests, perpetuates and governs the illusion and dream of duality in the phenomenal Universe.

In a real life actually, my parents lived in illusion, thinking that they will have a boy – and then I surprised them. On a day of my birth, my father was on his way to see his first born, and suddenly someone cried for Maya. Little girl turned after the voice and my father saw her face. He was astonished with her beauty and at the same moment decided to name me after that sweet little creature.

Now I enjoy this little legend on my own which tells a lot about me even now. I am often the one who can surprise and find the solution from nowhere… those are my roots, in illusion.
